It refers to unconstitutional initiative of Karnataka government in setting up a committee for deciding a separate flag for the state. It is likely that decision of the committee may be there just on eve of elections to state legislative assembly to be held in April 2018, with a motive to provoke regional sentiments amongst voters simply for vote-bank politics.
India as a nation having its national flag cannot and must not allow separate flags for states, which will be definitely against integrity of nation. Other states cannot be compared with Jammu and Kashmir having its own flag because of article 370 of the constitution. Officials of Union Home Ministry have instantly, and rightly so, gave clarification against any such separate flag for a state. But this is not enough. Centre should strongly act to stop working of the committee since working of committee may ignite governments of other states to follow the same, which will create more problems for the centre to deal with such a consolidated move by some states.
