Farooq Sahaeb Please Hold Your Tongue

One expects our leaders to think twice before they open their mouth. Farooq Abdullah these days hardly thinks before shooting his mouth off. Recently, the National Conference leader while speaking at a function in Chenab said,“Government says the Pal-occupied-Kashmir is also part of India and we will take it one day- kya baap ka hai”. He went on to dare Narendra Modi Government to take PoK from Pakistan. It is not easy, he added.

Remember Parliamentary Resolution

Really, nobody could think that a man who has been chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir and who has been a Minister at the Centre would reject India’s claim on Pok with such contempt.

Faroo Abdullah has been again elected to Lok Sabha from Srinagar in by-election that recorded lowest percentage of polling- around 7 %. He will soon take oath of Membership of Lok Sabha. Has he forgotten that on February 22 1994 India had taken a historic resolution on Jammu & Kashmir? I would like to remind Farooq Abdullah that on that day Indian Parliament adopted unanimous resolution asserting that the whole of Jammu & Kashmir including PoK is integral part of India. Pakistan would have to vacate that part occupied by it now.

The resolution reads, “Notes with deep concern Pakistan’s role in imparting training to the terrorists in camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, the supply of weapons and funds, assistance in infiltration of trained militants, including foreign mercenaries into Jammu and Kashmir with the avowed purpose of creating disorder, disharmony and subversion: reiterates that the militants trained in Pakistan are indulging in murder, loot and other heinous crimes against the people, taking them hostage and creating an atmosphere of terror; Condemns strongly the continued support and encouragement Pakistan is extending to subversive and terrorist activities in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir; Calls upon Pakistan to stop forthwith its support to terrorism, which is in violation of the Simla Agreement and the internationally accepted norms of inter-State conduct and is the root cause of tension between the two countries reiterates that the Indian political and democratic structures and the Constitution provide for firm guarantees for the promotion and protection of human rights of all its citizens; regard Pakistan’s anti-India campaign of calumny and falsehood as unacceptable and deplorable; notes with deep concern the highly provocative statements emanating from Pakistan; urges Pakistan to refrain from making statements which vitiate the atmosphere and incite public opinion; expresses regret and concern at the pitiable conditions and violations of human rights and denial of democratic freedoms of the people in those areas of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir, which are under the illegal occupation of Pakistan”

Farroq Saheb you have been Member of Parliament earlier also. Does it behoove you to speak against India’s resolve on J & K? Why you speak language of a pedestrian?

FArroq Abdullah is not confined to commenting on PoK but he now says that by not holding peace talks with separatists India is inviting trouble for itself. With what face you will take oath of Membership of Parliament? Don’t forget that earlier also India held peace talks with separatists but only with those players within the frame work of Indian Constitution. Attacking the government affidavit in the Supreme Court wherein the Centre said that the government would not hold talks with separatists in the state who do not believe in the Indian Constituion. Abdullah said that by not initiating peace talks with separatists the government was taking steps that would prove to be a disaster for the state. Why the government should hold talks with those who shout pro-Pakistan slogans, hold Pakistani flag and stone our Army and Para Military forces in the valley. By comparing the Maoists attack on CRPF to terrorists attack on our defence forces in Kupawara, Abdullah has committed sin and serious offence. He crossed all limits when he not only supported the stone pelters but also said that some of these stone pelting incidents are stage managed by the government. Have you gone berserk Dr Farooq Abdullah?

It is high time that Aroow Abdullah should change his mind and play the role of a mainstream political leader rather than trying to fish in the troubled waters of themight state by speaking the language of a separatist leader. Such ani-national stance might give Abdullah and his Party National Conference some support of the separatist elements in the valley but in the long run, it will marginalize the National Conference. Little wonder then Abdullah be seen at the doors of leaders of the Hurriyat Conference for survival in politics.
