A few days after introducing Before Common Era ( B.C.E) and Common Era (C.E.) as the dating system in text books, Tamil Nadu government has reversed the decision and said that it would revert to the system of using Before Christ ( BC) and Anno Domini ( AD).
What is surprising is that after announcing the reversion of the decision, the Education Minister in Tamil Nadu has claimed that such decision has been taken ” to protect the interest of minorities”
What is the minority issue involved in this and how minority interests will be affected by changing the dating system in text books?
Obviously, Tamil Nadu government is playing vote bank politics , which amounts to minority appeasement in this case.
So called secularism and minority interests are subjects now taken to ridiculous level.
Is it secularism for the government to take over the temples but allow churches and mosques to be managed by the religious groups ? Let the mosques and the churches be with the religious groups but why not temples also be subjected to the same policy?
