UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has created example for other political rulers by turning down proposal of purchasing new super-costly cars worth several crores of rupees for his convoy. Instead he decided to use five-year old car purchased by his predecessor Akhilesh Yadav.
It should be a rule both for centre and the states that only economical cars with ex-factory price of say upto rupees ten lakhs may be purchased at public-expense. However exemption may be there for President, Vice President and Prime Minister. Also there may not be any price-limit for cars purchased for use of foreign dignitaries. Quite spacious cars with necessary luxuries are available within ex-factory price of rupees ten lakhs. Rest others are for status of richness which must not be ordinarily allowed at public-expense. The then Union Minister Jairam Ramesh once rightly termed costly SUVs as Socially-Useless-Vehicles.
Media-reports indicate that Akhilesh Yadav had misused his Chief Ministerial post by spent of huge public-money for purchase of two super-costly cars, one for himself as state Chief Minister, and the other for use of his father Mulyam Singh Yadav. Big irregularity needs to be done away by snatching car from Mulayam Singh Yadav in case he does not return the car at his own. Even Chief Minister should not have a right to exhibit undesired courtesy to avoid blame of doing so out of political vendetta.
