Budding researchers take centre stage at young scientist conference

In the 8th edition of India International Science Festival (IISF) 2022, the Young Scientist conference is one of the 15 events organised from 22nd -24th January 2023, at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Hundreds of young scientists and researchers, including persons from the scientific Industry, faculty members, Postdoctoral fellows, PhD students, and final-year MSc and B.Tech students from across the country, will participate in the conference.

The young scientist conference aims to familiarise young researchers with the scientific policies of India and share with them the stories of India’s scientific achievements. Aligned with the G20 theme -One Earth, One Family, One Future, and LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), the conference is aimed at inspiring young minds to come up with scientific solutions to the challenges faced by the nation and humanity. Climate change, the bio-economy, ecosystem sustainability, judicious use, and conservation of natural resources are some of the key areas of focus moving forward.

The young scientist conference is coordinated by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, and Vijnana Bharati. With the broad theme of IISF 2022, “Marching towards Amrit Kaal with science, technology, and innovation”, the Young Scientist conference will primarily focus on frontier areas of Science Research (Biological, Chemical, Mathematical, Physical sciences, Agriculture, Medicine, and Engineering); Pandemic Challenges, impacts, and research in vaccine development; Water resources, conservation, recycling, and purification; Biodiversity, Environment & Climate Change; and Food & Energy Security for Self-Reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat).

Theme-wise awards for best poster presentation will also be given to participants. Moreover, the young scientist conference participants will get to meet and interact with eminent professors and scientists from prestigious universities, institutes, and organisations like the Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

The conference offers young researchers a platform to present their ideas and work to the public and other scientists.  The young scientist conference program of IISF 2022 is an effort to help young researchers enhance their skill of public presentation and motivate young minds to pursue research in other frontier areas of sciences such as artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, quantum computation, etc. This event will also support the scientific potential of young researchers by facilitating their future collaborations in interdisciplinary areas to tackle a wide range of issues at the national level, industry, and society through science and technology.

IISF-2022 is jointly organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoS&T), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Department of Space (DoS), Government of India, and Government of Madhya Pradesh. The Department of Biotechnology is the nodal coordinating department for the festival. The Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCOST) is the local partner, and Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) are the Knowledge Partner. Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, Department of Biotechnology, is the nodal agency for organising the festival.  (India Science Wire)
