RTI fees and other government-fees requiring to paid through postal-orders should be revised

RTI fees and other government-fees requiring to paid through postal-orders should be revised to rupees fifty uniformly to prevent heavy loss in handling postal-orders It was only after revelation through RTI application that Department of Posts discontinued postal-orders in outdated denominations like rupees 1, 2, 5 and 7 because of extremely low sale-figure and high handling cost. According to an RTI response, handling cost of a postal-order was rupees 37.45 to Department of Posts alone in the year 2011-12. Handling cost for clearing-operation of banks is even extra. It is highly illogical that public-exchequer may bear such extra-ordinary loss in handling postal-orders in denominations like rupees 10 and 20. Rather it is time that higher denominations like of rupees 100, 200 and 500 m...
Practical step to strip security of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohansingh

Practical step to strip security of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohansingh

addtop, समाचार
Central government has moved practically to downgrade security of Prime Minister Dr Manmohansingh from highest SPG-protected to Z-plus thus leaving SPG cover only to four persons including present Prime Minister, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi her two children namely Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. All these SPG-protection did deserve super-high SPG security-cover because of serious life-threats to these family-members of late Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi from supporters of Khalistani movement and erstwhile LTTE. Thus it is totally unfair of Congress to criticise cut in security-cover of Dr Manmohan Singh to that of Z-plus category from earlier SPG-protected that too when it is not traditional to provide SPG security-cover to former Prime Ministers. It is time to study...

Prime Minister in his Man-ki-Baat on 25.08.2019 indicated that his government is going to celebrate 150th Gandhi birth-anniversary in a big way. It is evident that new commemorative coins are likely to be issued on 02.10.2019 along with a series of commemorative postal-stamps like were issued on Gandhi birth-centenary on 02.10.1969. But it should be ensured that commemoration of the occasion through coins should be for masses also like was on 02.10.1969 when silver-alloy coins of ten-rupee denomination were provided to general public on face-value right from date of release on 02.10.1969 like commemorative postal-stamps are sold. It may be mentioned that later system of issue of commemorative coins on face-value was abolished and instead system of issuing only coin-sets at an exorbitant...

India Post ignores misuse of heavily subsidised post-cards for listening names on Akashwani, should revise minimum postal-tariff to be rupee one

It is indeed shocking that postal-department delivers highly subsidised rubber-stamped (printed) post-cards of just 50 paise each to Akashwani (All India Radio) where senders write Any-Song for programme of listeners-choice of film-songs just to get their names broadcast on Akashwani. According to rules, these rubber-stamped post-cards should be considered as printed post-cards carrying a postal-tariff of rupees six, and must not be delivered to Akashwani. Bitter fact is that subsidised post-cards are not being used by common people. These are also misused for commercial purposes like by chit-fund companies to send reminders for payments. Ideally such unpopular postal-items like post-cards and Inland-Letter-Cards must now be discontinued to prevent unnecessary subsidy-loss on public-exc...

It refers to media-reports about The Dadar Athornan Institute set up about a century ago to train persons from fast-eliminating Parsi community as Parsi priests by admitting students at an early childhood age from class I to class X, on verge of closure because of shortage of funds. Since population of most-talented Parsi community of the world having sharply declined, funds from the community are not enough to run the Institute. Concern on fast declining Parsi population have been raised again and again including even by the then President Pranab Mukerji. Apart from other steps taken to increase Parsi population, it is time that Maharashtra government takes over responsibility for funds to run the only institute to train students as Parsi priests namely The Dadar Athornan Institute als...

Bombay High Court seized with PIL on frequent change in sizes of currency notes

t refers to Bombay High Court asking Reserve Bank of India RBI to file a reply on a Public-Interest-Litigation PIL filed by The National Association for the Blind, seeking RBI assurance that sizes of currency-notes will not be changed in future, because it creates problem for visually challenged people who take time to get familiar with new sized currency. But it was after more than half-century that currency-size was last changed in the year 1967. Problem was caused because new-sized currency in different denominations was introduced in phases ranging to more than two years after it started just after demonetisation of old currency notes of rupees 500 and 1000 on 08.11.2016. RBI should rather assure that in future currency-size if required to be changed will be done in one go for notes...

It refers to a Congress spokesperson opposing the right approach of a parliamentary-panel to cut electricity and water supply of about 200 former Parliamentarians within next three days who have failed to vacate government-accommodations even after so many days of losing entitlement. Such strict steps can only make government-accommodations evicted timely which in earlier regimes were at times could not be vacated for years after losing entitlement. In case former Parliamentarians and others do not themselves vacate government-accommodations within 90 days of losing entitlement, not only these should be forcefully vacated but also all such persons should lose right to contest any election in future.
