आर्सेनिक से प्रदूषित जल का उपयोग स्वास्थ्य के लिए खतरनाक हो सकता है। भारतीय शोधकर्ताओं के एक नए अध्ययन में पता चला है कि उत्तर प्रदेश की करीब 2.34 करोड़ ग्रामीण आबादी भूमिगत जल में मौजूद आर्सेनिक के उच्च स्तर से प्रभावित है। विभिन्न जिलों से प्राप्त भूमिगत जल के 1680 नमूनों का अध्ययन करने के बाद शोधकर्ता इस नतीजे पर पहुंचे हैं। इस अध्ययन में उत्तर प्रदेश के 40 जिलों के भूजल में आर्सेनिक का उच्च स्तर पाया गया है। राज्य के उत्तर-पूर्वी क्षेत्र में स्थित जिलों में आर्सेनिक का उच्च स्तर पाया गया है। इनमें से अधिकांश जिले गंगा, राप्ती और घाघरा नदियों के मैदानी भागों में स्थित हैं। बलिया, गोरखपुर, गाजीपुर, बाराबंकी, गोंडा, फैजाबाद और लखीमपुर खीरी आर्सेनिक से सबसे अधिक प्रभावित जिले हैं। शाहजहांपुर, उन्नाव, चंदौली, वाराणसी, प्रतापगढ़, कुशीनगर, मऊ, बलरामपुर, देवरिया और सिद्धार्थनगर के भूजल ...

It refers to welcome news about Lok Sabha secretariat doing away with five-star transit-stay in hotels for newly elected Lok Sabha members who are not members of previous Lok Sabha thereby saving pubic-money of about rupees 35 crores. Earlier many newly elected members including appointed ministers misused the facility of transit-stay at five-starred hotels by not vacating even after allocation of regular government-accommodation.
