Union government should induce standardization of common accessories like tyres and batteries so that same parts may be used in different models of cars produced by various car-manufacturers. It will heavily bring down cost of consumables through their bumper production in extra large numbers in some limited sizes and specifications. Permission to import cars and motor-bikes with any capacity

Union Ministry of Road Transport permitted each manufacturer of cars and motor-bikes to import upto 2500 units of imported ones and also permitting upto 500 buses and trucks separately by each manufacturing company irrespective of price and engine-capacity. But there should be a pre-condition that foreign companies may help setting up of plants by concerned Indian companies to manufacture such vehicles in India too if so desired. To discourage use of economical diesel, cars and motor-bikes should be allowed only with petrol-engines. लंबे समय से परेशानियों से जूझ रही प्रिंट इंडस्ट्री के लिए यह खबर राहत देने वाली है। दरअसल, पिछले करीब डेढ़ साल से न्यूजप्रिंट (अखबारी कागज) की कीमतों में बढ़ोतरी से न्यूजपेपर इंडस्ट्री की उत्पादन लागत में इजाफा हो रहा थ। कीमतें 60 प्रतिशत तक बढ़ने से इस इंडस्ट्री के सामने काफी संकट था, लेकिन अक्टूबर से राहत मिलनी शुरू हुई और न्यूजप्रिंट की कीमतें थोड़ी कम होने के साथ ही अब स्थिर बनी हुई हैं। कीमतों की बात करें तो 820 अमेरिकी डॉलर प्रति टन के मुकाबले न्यूजप्रिंट के दाम अब 700 अमेरिकी डॉलर प्रति टन पर स्थिर बने हुए हैं। हालांकि कीमतों में आई इस कमी का असर पब्लिशर्स को होने वाले लाभ पर फिलहाल नहीं पड़ रहा है, लेकिन फिर भी कीमतों में इस ठहराव ने इंडस्ट्री को मुस्कुराने का मौका दे दिया है। इस बारे में ‘एचटी मीडिया’ (HT Media) के एग्जिक्यूटिव डायरेक्टर (ऑपरेशंस) शरद सक्सेना ने कहा, ‘इंडस्ट्री...

CSE assessment of Swachh Survekshan 2019 finds loopholes in the survey and its rankings

A new independent analysis of the recently released results of the Swachh Survekshan 2019 has unearthed a number of anomalies in the way the survey was conducted and its results, thus threatening an otherwise excellent initiative.
