Presently officers of rank of additional Deputy Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police are appointed as Public Information Officers and First Appellate Authorities in Delhi Police. But these high-ranked police-officers have no direct role in handling RTI applications and First appeals. These over-busy officers have to act just like post-office in responding to RTI applications and First Appeals on basis of inputs received from sub-ordinate offices. They have to unnecessarily spend their precious duty-hours along with a contingent of lower-ranked police-persons in hearings at Central Information Commission CIC. New Delhi, Oct. 05 (India Science Wire): A study on underwater sounds using a passive acoustic monitoring system during the winters has been able to probe sea ice melting in the Arctic and its contributing factors. The research was led by The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) and the results reveal a decline in the sea ice concentration, thus disrupting the normal ocean circulation and the global conveyor belt, and eventually leading to changes in global climate. Initially, NIOT scientists used passive acoustic monitoring technology to detect ambient noises underwater caused by the melting of sea ice. It may be primary or secondary microplastics which can be found in coastal environments all over the world. Also, the microplastics are much more hazardous than macroplastics because of their availability in all levels of marine food webs. In a study conducted by the Department of Remote Sensing, Bharathidasan University covering eight different sampling stations along a 71 km long coastline with both urbanized beaches and undisturbed coastal areas along the Indian Ocean, the researchers assessed the magnitude of the microplastic pollution problem.
