New Delhi, Jan 14 (India Science Wire): The air pollution picture of Delhi is quite gloomy. In a bid to combat this, a group of researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has developed a technology to reduce the harmful exhaust fume emitted from the Diesel Generators (DG) sets. The team developed ‘Chakr Shield’, a Retrofit Emission Control Device for DG sets and patented it. They have collaborated with Select CITYWALK mall in Delhi and installed the equipment there. “The installation of the Chakr Shield will help in reducing 80% of pollution from the DG set while saving about 1260 billion litres of air from getting polluted”, said Khushboo Gulati, General Manager Sales and Marketing for Chakr Innovation. New Delhi, Jan 13 (India Science Wire): In a recently published study in the journal Nature Scientific Reports, it is estimated that there would be a decline of 35% in work performance in the east coast region of India by 2100 due to heat stress caused by extreme heat and humidity. This would be extended to most of the other regions of the country due to increasing anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations and other climate change related factors. Huge balance is lying in inoperative accounts in banks with even many account-holders having forgotten about their bank-accounts. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced Know-Your-Customer (KYC) forms which has been made mandatory also for closing such inoperative accounts. Such cumbersome practice not only is causing difficulty to account-holders wishing to close their inoperative accounts, but also creating a big loss of man-hours of bank-employees apart from unnecessary data-entries and record-keeping. Frauds are reported through some bank-employees misappropriating funds in such inoperative accounts where amount is large.
