Prime Minister’s initiative to do away with bouquets should be adopted by public-authorities

It refers to directive by Union Ministry of Affairs-MHA to all the states to do away with practice of greeting and welcoming Prime Minister by flower-bouquets. Huge amount of money is regularly wasted on flower-bouquets. There should be a rule that practice of offering flower-bouquets at expense of all public-authorities, central and state governments should be banned to prevent wasteful expenditure on unproductive items.

However replacing bouquets by books is also not a practical idea. In present era of internet, book-reading is not in much fashion. Rather over-occupied personalities like Prime Minister can never have time to read books. Commemorative philatical-items issued by postal-department or coin-sets minted by government-mints can be a better substitute. These items can also replace trophies at educational institutions. Idea will increase revenue-earning and develop hobby for collection of these items.
