CJI should summon a conference of judges of higher courts to discuss liberal culture of ex-party stay-orders and frequent adjournments in court-cases

Biggest weakness of our justice-delivery-system is liberal ex-party stay-orders followed by frequent adjournments in courts which the main and foremost reason of ever-increasing huge pendency of cases in courts resulting in justifying the proverb Justice-Delayed-Is-Justice Denied. This is despite the fact that several Division Benches of Supreme Court have including the one comprising of Justices RV Ravindran and JM Panchal in January 2009 observed and rightly too of the bitter reality that at times those having taken ex-party stay-orders seeking frequent adjournments ultimately lose the cases. Even the then Vice President Hamid Ansari once also desired liberal adjournments in courts need to be taken seriously by the judiciary for reforms within.Supreme Court also in the case Shiv Cotex...

IOC advertisement of 10-percent payback on petrol through digital payment

addtop, BREAKING NEWS, TOP STORIES, समाचार
Presently TV-advertisements by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) are in plenty about 10-percent pay-back on purchase of petrol-diesel through digital mode of payment. Central government had earlier started .75-percent pay-back if petrol and diesel are purchased through credit or debit cards from every petrol-pump of any public-sector oil-company to encourage cashless payments after demonetisation of old currency notes of rupees 500 and 1000 on 08.11.2016. It is beyond understanding why and how IOC alone can provide 10-percent pay-back rather than .75-percent by other oil-companies. Now with people already adopting card-payments at petrol-pumps, incentive for cashless payments at petrol-pumps should be totally withdrawn. Or else it should be same for all public-sector oil-companies rather tha...

Goa is one such state which always gives hung assembly where parties with lower strength and independents dominate largest party of the alliance in ministry-formation. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant (BJP) with 12 members of his party out of total 21 members of the ruling alliance had to induct two Deputy Chief Ministers from smaller allies with three members each. Number of BJP ministers is just five out twelve BJP MLAs while there are seven ministers out of rest nine MLAs of the alliance. Even norm of having maximum 15-percent ministers out of total strength of lower House is not implemented in ministry-formation. Alliance-politics thus in fact is a blackmail politics of unholy political bargain. Best is to elect Chief Minister by secret and compulsory vote of all MLAs through EVMs equip...

Rather persons once seated on highest posts of President, Vice President and even Lok Sabha Speaker must quit active politics for life-time after occupying these responsible seats requiring perfect neutrality. Constitution should be amended by upgrading post of Lok Sabha Speaker as that of second Vice President with both Vice Presidents elected simultaneously with President through EVMs equipped with VVPAT within three ...

Union Ministry of Road Transport permitted each manufacturer of cars and motor-bikes to import upto 2500 units of imported ones and also permitting upto 500 buses and trucks separately by each manufacturing company irrespective of price and engine-capacity. But there should be a pre-condition that foreign companies may help setting up of plants by concerned Indian companies to manufacture such vehicles in India too if so desired. To discourage use of economical diesel, cars and motor-bikes should be allowed only with petrol-engines. Import-duty on imported vehicles should be quite high because only affording ones can purchase these. At the same time, central government should take steps to discourage costly vehicles by having double GST may be in form of cess on costlier cars and motor-...

Such usual statements expressing shock and deep regret include, a high-power committee will be set up to probe the tragedy, guilty ones will not escape punishment, compensation will be paid to kin of victims, free medical-treatment will be available for those injured etc. etc. But since public-memory is very short, no one comes to know about report of high-level committee set up to probe and punishment provided to guilty ones thus resulting in future such incidents. Even Mumbai witnessed such incidents earlier also. Since practically no remedial measures are seen to have been taken, it is better that persons seated on high posts may not...
