लेखक: अरुण तिवारी लोकटक झील, भारत में ताजे पानी की सबसे बड़ी झील है। यह झील मणिपुर की राजधानी इम्फाल से 53 किलोमीटर दूर और दीमापुर रेलवे स्टेशन के निकट स्थित है। 34.4 डिग्री सेल्सियस का तापमान, 49 से 81 प्रतिशत तक की नमी, 1,183 मिलीमीटर का वार्षिक वर्षा औसत तथा पबोट, तोया और चिंगजाओ पहाड़ मिलकर इसका फैलाव तय करते हैं। इस पर तैरते विशाल हरित घेरों की वजह से इसे तैरती हुई झील कहा जाता है। एक से चार फीट तक मोटे ये विशाल हरित घेरे वनस्पति मिट्टी और जैविक पदार्थों के मेल से निर्मित मोटी परतें हैं। परतों की मोटाई का 20 प्रतिशत हिस्सा पानी में डूबा रहता है; शेष 80 प्रतिशत सतह पर तैरता दिखाई देता है। ये परतें इतनी मज़बूत होती हैं कि स्तनपायी जानवरो का वजन आराम से झेल लेती हैं। स्थानीय बोली में इन्हे फुुमदी कहते हैं। फूमदी के भी मुख्यतः दो प्रकार हैं: 'फूमदी एटाओबा' यानी तैरती हुई फूमदी और 'फू...
