Vigil necessary on excessive cash-withdrawal from bank-accounts

Study should be made about quantum of cash-withdrawals after lifting of cash-withdrawal limit from current-accounts in banks. It is also necessary because Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced removing all restrictions on cash-withdrawals even from savings-accounts in banks from 13.03.2017. In an era when central government is trying, and rightly so, for a cashless economy, there needs to be proper check on excessive cash withdrawals from bank-accounts to prevent re-emergence of parallel economy of black money and hawala-operations. Income Tax Department can ask banks to provide details of bank-accounts and PAN-numbers where cash-withdrawal in a month has exceeded some stipulated limit. ‘paytm’ aunt-nephew TV-advertisement not in good taste

It refers to ‘paytm’ TV-advertisement showing a child getting cash-gift through ‘paytm’ on his mobile-phone from his aunt despite specific directions from his mother for not accepting any such cash-gift from the aunt. This advertisement while portraying the child as a greedy nephew, also wrongly educates a child to disobey his mother behind her back even after assuring his mother about obeying her. Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, The Advertising Standards Council of India, Union Ministry for Child Development and National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) should take necessary steps to stop airing the said TV advertisement. Implementation rules for India’s first fuel consumption norms for cars is full of holes, says CSE

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has found serious loopholes in the recently released draft rules for measuring and monitoring compliance with the new fuel consumption standards for passenger cars to be enforced for the first time in India this year. India, so far, is the only major vehicle producing region in the world that has not implemented fuel efficiency norms for vehicles. While these norms were notified way back in 2015, rules for compliance with the norms have just been proposed by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for implementation this year.
